For Camoosa, the flip side became a metaphor for his own studio practice. Over the past year and a half, the artist has worked against his established tendencies, loosening control and making space for experimentation, optimism, joy, and surprise.
Known for his colorful, layered abstractions that combine painting, printmaking, collage, and drawing, Camoosa’s studio is a site of continual discovery. The works in Flip Side embrace the unexpected, inviting viewers to experience their own moments of surprise as forms, gestures, and materials reveal themselves over time.".
