The short version: atlftw is a community calendar, not a data business. No tracking, nothing sold. and we collect the minimum needed to run this event calendar.
Event suggestions. Everything you put in the suggestion form (event details, the flyer, your vouch) is meant for publication: if the event is approved, it appears publicly on the site/calendar. Suggestions are anonymous unless you're logged in, in which case the event can credit your username (you control that).
Accounts. Anyone can create one. An account is a username, an email address (required: we use it to verify the account and for password resets, nothing else), and a password (passwords are stored using one-way password hashing). You can optionally add a profile photo, a blurb, and links. Profiles are optionally linkable from event pages. By default, profiles start out hidden: your profile page, and the list of events you've submitted, only become public if you switch them on from your dashboard.
Saved events. If you bookmark events, that list is stored with your account and shown only to you. If the personal calendar-feed option is enabled for your account, its subscribe link contains a long secret token. Anyone you share that link with can see your saved list, so treat the link like a key (a new calendar feed url can be generated from your account page).
Address search. When you look up a location or address on the suggestion form, our server relays your search words to Photon, an OpenStreetMap search service. Your browser never contacts them and your IP address isn't sent (only the text you typed).
Spam protection. When you submit an event, your IP address is held in server memory for about an hour to limit how fast one person can submit. It isn't written to our database.
Server logs. Like nearly every website, our server keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and debugging. They're deleted on a short rotation and never used to profile anyone.
Analytics. ATLFTW uses first-party, aggregate analytics to understand general site use and improve the calendar. We tally things like page views, daily visits, actions, and use of tags and filters. We do not store IP addresses, account identifiers, session identifiers, browser fingerprints, search terms, or individual activity histories for analytics.
No social-media pixels. No selling, renting, or sharing data with anyone. No profiles of visitors. The calendar doesn't care who you are.
A short-lived cookie containing only the current date prevents repeated page loads in one browser from being counted as separate visits. Analytics data stays on ATLFTW’s server and is not shared with an analytics company.
A session cookie exists only if you log in; a security (CSRF) cookie protects forms. Neither tracks you across other sites. Your poster-size preference (S/M/L) is remembered by your own browser and never sent to us.
Our typefaces load from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests font files from Google's servers — Google sees your IP address the way any file host does. That's the only third party your browser talks to on any page here.
Uploaded flyers are published as-is. Photos can carry hidden metadata (like the location where a photo was taken). Strip it before uploading if that concerns you.
Subscribing to an .ics feed means your calendar app periodically fetches a public file from us. We don't know or track who subscribes. The personal saved-events feed is the one exception: its link identifies your account (see Saved events above).
Want an event, image, or credit taken down? Ask (see below). Removed content disappears from the site immediately and ages out of our backups within about thirty days.
One honest caveat: anonymous submissions carry no proof of who sent them, so we can't verify that a removal request comes from the original submitter. Those requests are handled case-by-case, at our judgment.
